Getting Started with AI in Advertising: A Critical Reflection
From my office overlooking the rooftops of Neve Tzedek, I’ve spent considerable time reflecting on what artificial intelligence genuinely brings to advertising. When I first began integrating AI into our processes at 2085, my goal wasn’t simply to chase a trend. It was to genuinely rethink and refine our methodology.
Initially, the challenge wasn’t about deciding whether AI was good or bad. It was about understanding precisely what it could meaningfully contribute. Rather than viewing AI as some transformative miracle, I approached it with healthy skepticism, treating it as another tool with clear limitations alongside distinct advantages.
AI became most valuable not because it replaced human tasks, but because it challenged our conventional ways of thinking and working. It forced me and my team to question our existing assumptions and, at times, even revealed uncomfortable blind spots in our strategies and insights.
Rather than immediately overhauling our entire approach, we adopted a measured integration by critically examining our processes, particularly how we interpret data and insights.
AI provided a clearer lens, though it rarely delivered the full answer. Its real benefit lay in prompting deeper inquiry and more rigorous analysis.
Through this journey, I've learned that genuine innovation emerges not from the tool itself, but from the critical thinking and dialogue it sparks. The real power of AI in advertising lies in its capacity to confront traditional methods, expose limitations, and provoke richer conversations about our work and goals.
